At the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow, fashion association leaders from over 50 countries proudly announced the formation of the BRICS International Fashion Federation. This initiative aims to create new centers of influence, strengthen international relations, improve industry sustainability, and provide emerging designers with growth opportunities.
“Iraq’s accession to the BRICS International Fashion Federation represents a tremendous opportunity to enhance the position of Iraqi designers on the global stage. We are delighted to be part of this initiative that will contribute to strengthening international cooperation and providing new platforms to support emerging designers. We believe that the Federation will serve as a bridge between different cultures and help preserve artistic heritage and develop fashion industries in sustainable and environmentally conscious ways. We look forward to collaborating with our BRICS partners to exchange knowledge and expertise and achieve a more prosperous future for the global fashion industry.”

The Federation is an opportunity to cooperate and support the activities of the local and international fashion world
The Memorandum on the establishment of the International Fashion Federation in the BRICS countries was signed by CEOs of fashion weeks, heads of fashion and textile associations, heads of educational institutions from India, South Africa, Russia, Ethiopia, Egypt, Spain, the USA, Indonesia, Malaysia, Ghana, Tanzania, Jordan, Ecuador, Paraguay, Kenya and other countries. Representatives of the countries participating in the summit emphasized that cooperation with emerging fashion markets is a promising direction.
“The establishment of this international federation is a key result of the recent BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow. It once again demonstrates the common goals and great potential for growth that we have with our global colleagues,” shared Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow. The BRICS+ Fashion Summit was held in Moscow on October 3-5. The summit was attended by representatives of more than 100 countries. The BRICS+ Fashion Summit is the largest fashion event in emerging markets.
One of the main tasks of the BRICS International Fashion Federation will be to strengthen and expand relations between fashion organizations in different countries. The Federation is not a closed organization; on the contrary, its members welcome anyone who shares its principles and aspirations. However, an application to join the Federation will be required when the structure is formed and the website is launched.
The main points of the announcement are: supporting local talent, promoting sustainable fashion, enhancing cultural exchange and creating a common platform for emerging markets, information and education projects. The countries also intend to pay great attention to developing new technologies, preserving cultural symbols and supporting arts and crafts.
“We are committed to providing these pioneers with a global platform and local events to ensure that their creative work is celebrated globally. Our goal is to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, and to seek to implement transparent methodologies that will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the fashion industry. Slow fashion, characterized by conscious consumption and production, will be at the heart of the BRICS IFF agenda as we strive to reduce the environmental impact of fashion,” the statement reads.
