
As part of Baghdad Fashion Week, the Baghdad Organization for Arts and Culture, in collaboration with Bayt Al-Wattar Heritage House, organized a special panel discussion highlighting the importance of preserving Iraq’s rich cultural and historical legacy. The event gathered a distinguished audience of heritage and arts enthusiasts.
The session featured Sanan Kamel, President of the organization, who outlined the organization’s vision and upcoming projects aimed at showcasing Iraq’s heritage through art, fashion, and cultural events. The discussion also included renowned content creator Kaheelan, who provided insights into the history of Mesopotamian cuisine, presenting one of the oldest Sumerian recipes, “Ka’ket Al-Qasr” (The Palace Cake), a dish dating back thousands of years.
Ali Al-Wattar, owner of Bayt Al-Wattar Heritage House, contributed valuable insights on the history of Baghdad’s old houses, emphasizing the need to preserve and restore them as an essential part of the city’s architectural identity. The event was hosted at Bayt Al-Wattar, a historic house over 106 years old, located along the banks of the Tigris River, providing an authentic and immersive atmosphere that connected the past with the present.
The discussion was moderated by Fawaz Falah, Vice President of the organization, who engaged the audience with thought-provoking questions that sparked meaningful conversations. The session saw active participation from attendees, reinforcing the importance of preserving Iraq’s cultural heritage in various forms, including fashion, cuisine, and traditional architecture.
